This nostalgic image was re-imagined as a reduction linocut and eventually a silkscreen, in celebration of the joys of reading. I love the response I’ve received to the reading girl. The Reader reminds us of us, our mothers and our daughters. It recalls the innocence of childhood, the experience of being lost in a book and in the imagination. It awakens that feeling of the twilight hour in which, perhaps, we feel the most alive and introspective.
